QU professor's art picked for national, international shows

QUINCY -- Several works of Quincy University distinguished professor of art Robert Lee Mejer have been selected for international, national and statewide exhibitions. Mejer was invited -- for the 3rd consecutive time -- as one of 30 American watercolorists to exhibit his watercolor "Variant: Pinkscape" in the International Fabriano in Watercolor 2018 exhibition in conjunction with the International Fabriano in Acquarello Convention. Artists from 50 countries will be participating in this event from May 3 to 7 Fabriano, Italy, with the exhibition running from April through May 15.

Mejer's watercolors "Jason's Delight" and "Take PC#36" have been selected by chief curator Mathew Leslie of the Muckenthaler Cultural Center in Fullerton, Calif., and Penny Hill, director of exhibitions at the National Watercolor Society, to be showcased in the H20MG! exhibition by the National Watercolor Society. The exhibition will be held from Feb. 1 to April 8 at the Muckenthaler Cultural Center in Fullerton, Calif.

Mejer's watercolor "Take PC#18 Revisited" has been selected by Carolyn Baxley, director of the Cinema Gallery in Champaign, Ill., to be showcased as one of 12 artists in the Downstate Watercolor Exhibition. The dates of the exhibition are March 7 to April 21 with an opening reception from 3 to 4 p.m. March 11.
