From the Band
Nalani Proctor is a three piece rock band, hailing from Keokuk, Iowa. Forming in December 2011, the group brings together backgrounds of acoustic, punk, hardcore, heavy metal, and indie genres to create songs both soft and sweet, and alternatively driving rock. Lead vocalist and guitar player, Nalani Proctor, began writing music while studying vocal performance at Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa. Upon graduating in 2007, Nalani performed solo for local events and venues. In the summer of 2010, she released her first cd, “I will never leave my bedroom.” The nine tack album chronicled instances of basement rock shows, love lost, and living at home. Shortly after the cd's release, Nalani Proctor teamed up with 3 local musicians to create a local favorite “Nalani Proctor and the Manthers.” The group performed Nalani's original tunes and gained notoriety in Southeast Iowa, playing Keokuk, Iowa's annual “Rollin' on the River” Festival, Cedar Rapids, Iowa's first “319 Festival”, and hosting a monthly fundraiser for Keokuk's Estes Park throughout Summer 2011. The group disbanded in August 2011. A few months later, Nalani Proctor regrouped with guitarist-turned-drummer Dustin Neill (Guraja, HRD), and bass player Alex “Skitch” Crist (Pound for Pound, Guraja, Muldoon's Clever Girls) to begin work on a new album, set to release in the summer of 2012.
